Heat recovery units for apartments and houses

Recuperators for an apartment, house or other premises – these are ventilation devices of the building engineering system, which help to ensure the comfort of homes or other premises, fresh air in any season. At least once in a lifetime, construction touches almost every family. This stage of life brings with it a lot of experience. Often it is a dream come true, so it is especially important to think about the comfort and quality of life.

Becoming fashionable recovery to evaluate by price, and recuperation system installed only taking into account the new EU requirements. Modern houses are built completely airtight, which saves energy in the house, but this benefit also has another side. Houses are like a thermos - air does not circulate, unwanted organisms develop, air humidity is unsuitable for life, etc. Thanks to new technologies, all the above problems are solved and most importantly - those who "taste" cannot get sick. We decided to discuss recuperation system from another, practical side.

What is a recuperator?

Simply put recuperator This is a box whose direct function is to mechanically replace polluted indoor air with fresh and clean air. So, recuperators suck in polluted air from the premises. After passing through the filter, the air enters the heat exchanger and gives up its heat to it. Polluted air is removed to the outside and fresh air is sucked in, which the heat exchanger warms. Fresh outdoor air is filtered and warm and “clean” air enters the premises. At first glance, this process seems confusing. We will discuss each element of the recuperator. This will make the process understandable, and you will be able to evaluate which recuperators will meet your needs.

Heat recovery fan

Fan This is probably the most important part of the heat exchanger. Thanks to it, recuperator performs its main function - it sucks in air, thus ventilating the tents. Most recuperators on the market are equipped with two ventilators. One extracts polluted air from the premises and transfers it to the outside, the second sucks in fresh air and pushes it into the ventilated premises. When choosing a recuperator, the first thing to consider is the parameters of the fan. It is important to evaluate the design, economy, power and durability of the fan motor and to inquire about the manufacturer's reliability and reviews. Based on these parameters, it can be assumed that the design of the entire recuperator will be of similar reliability.

Heat exchanger

Plate heat exchanger

The simplest way to transfer the heat of the outgoing air to the incoming air is to insert an aluminum plate between both flows. This way the flows do not mix, but the heat is transferred. In this way, about 60% of the outgoing heat is returned. This is a rather low indicator for the Lithuanian climate and the air may need to be additionally heated. It is for this reason that plate heat exchanger more often used in countries with warmer climates.

In severe frosts (below -5 °C), the heat exchanger plate does not have time to warm up the incoming air, which can even cause it to freeze. In order to prevent accidents, automatic valves are installed in the heat exchangers. The valve prevents cold outside air when the temperature reaches +3 °C and the air is directed in another direction, where the air is heated by the installed additional heater. The cold air is directed until it is heated heat exchanger plate and then the air can flow back into its normal path.

As we see, plate heat exchanger not effective in cold climates because plate heat exchanger uses energy to direct air and incurs additional costs.

Rotary recuperator

The principle of operation of a rotary heat exchanger is the same as that of a plate heat exchanger. The only difference is the design. A rotary heat exchanger resembles a cylinder with thousands of channels inside. It is mounted in such a way that one side of it directs the outgoing polluted air, and the other side - fresh air. The polluted air flowing on one side warms the walls of the rotary heat exchanger channels. Then the “cylinder” rotates and the warm channels end up where the fresh air enters. Cold outside air enters them and the walls of the channels warm it. Later recuperator It slowly turns again and returns to its original position. In this way, a continuous heat exchange takes place.
Rotary heat exchangers recover up to 80% of the heat, so it may be necessary to heat the air from time to time, but they never form condensation, so they never freeze, and the incoming air is not only heated, but also some of the moisture is transferred.

Air filters for ventilation systems

All recuperators are equipped with air supply and exhaust ducts air filters for ventilation systems. Their purpose is to clean the supplied and removed air. When analyzing the parameters of air filters, it is necessary to take into account the amount of contamination that the analyzed air filter can retain. This is a fundamental assessment of the air you will breathe. The financial aspect is no less important. Air filters for ventilation systems are divided into cleanable and non-cleanable. This means that some filters can be washed, while others can only be replaced. High-quality filters are replaceable, so they should also be included in the maintenance costs of the heat recovery unit.

Body

Heat exchanger housing has not only a cosmetic function. Its direct purpose is to protect the elements of the heat exchanger from external temperature effects and isolate internal sounds. These factors are reflected in the tightness class of the heat exchanger. Also recuperators are marked with the letters P, H and V. This letter indicates the installation type of the housing. P – ceiling installation, H – horizontal, wall installation, V – vertical, freestanding.

Management

The control system provides the ability to monitor and control several processes operating simultaneously. The main process is the speed of the indoor and fresh air fans. The controller usually provides uniform air extraction, but at very low outdoor temperatures it is worth reducing the fan torque to ensure efficient operation of the heat exchanger.
In our opinion, when choosing a controller, it is necessary to evaluate not only the functionality of the heat recovery unit, but also how much time the user wants to spend with the control system. In order to set the necessary parameters, a smart and complex control system requires more concentration and time than a simple, mechanical control. A complex control system costs more, and its functions are often unused.

IMPORTANT:

  • Recuperator This is a device in which the listed elements, interconnected, ventilate the premises.
  • A recuperator is usually not the only, but the main part of indoor ventilation.
  • It is recommended to completely change the air in your home approximately every two hours. So, by calculating the volume of your house, you can determine what capacity recuperator will be suitable for your home.
  • The heat exchanger fan and heat exchanger are matched to each other. The maximum amount of air that the heat exchanger can remove and supply is measured.

We offer you only extremely high quality recuperators:
